El City of San José, through its Department of Social Action, Family and Equality, has prepared, as every year, a complete program of cultural and protest activities to commemorate the International Women's Day, which is celebrated worldwide on March 8.
The activities take place between Friday, March 6 and Friday, March 13, 2026.
The program begins with Hortipoètiquesa recital that blends poetry, music and live painting, a multidisciplinary artistic proposal that celebrates female creativity.
Another of the most noteworthy appointments comes with the Women's RaceThis sporting event has become one of the most popular activities of this week of protests. The race starts in Sant Jordi Square and finishes in Reina Sofía Park in Ibiza Town.
The program also includes cultural activities for different audiences. Families can enjoy the storyteller “Sira the bandit”, By Susana Paz, while the adult audience has options such as the dramatized reading “Land of Bes", interpreted by Encarna de las Heras at the San Jose Library.
The Can Jeroni Cultural Center also joins the program with two events: the monologue “Orgasms are for women… and when God was a woman”, performed by Laura Mandarina, and the screening of the documentary “See yourselves, when they speak", directed by Ferran Gassiot, which brings together first-person female testimonies.
The week culminates with theatre at the Caló de s'Oli Auditorium, which hosts the play «IT'S OVER!", from Maracaibo Theater, a stage production that reflects on inequalities and sexist violence.
All activities are free.
