San Jose celebrates the II Ibizan Potato Fair, a day for all audiences that is organized to coincide with the beginning of the potato harvesting season, to highlight the value of this native variety that many consider the “queen of the Ibizan garden.”
The fair is held on 17 May 2025 Saturday, taking advantage of the fact that it is the day of San José Craft Market.
From the 12 pm you can enjoy a tapas competition creative Made with local potatoes from 8 establishments in the town: Can Limo, Racó Verd, La Espiga or Can Bernat Vinya, Paulis Bakes, Es Galliner, Sa Cuineta and Bar Center de Majors.
In addition, in the Town Hall Square of 11:00 to 14:00h There will be various culinary activities and workshops for all audiences. At 12:00 p.m. Herbusa and Ester Vila offer a session on “Potatoes and leftover cooking: Zero Food Waste", and at 13:00 p.m. the doctor Irene Roth will talk about him nutritional and healthy value of the potato. There will also be a Children's potato sweets workshop, in charge of the cook Marga Orell (no prior registration required).
There will also be a free tasting of red potatoes, the typical one from Ibiza, with a sample of local varieties and a direct sales stand and, in the tent, you can taste one of the most famous dishes of Ibizan cuisine, the sofrit pagès for 5 euros.
A las 15 pm the group Flawless will offer a concert at 16 pm the tapas competition prizes will be awarded.
And to end the day, S'Espurna will organize fun and original games for the little ones with the potato as the protagonist.
