The Historical Archive of Ibiza and Formentera organizes the second Conference on Local Studies on Historical Memory, with the collaboration of the Ibiza Town Hall, the Institut d'Estudis Balears, the UIB and the Forum for the Memory of Ibiza and Formentera.
The central theme to be dealt with in this edition will be "Jueus i nazis a les Illes" ("Jews and Nazis on the Islands"). The conference, dedicated to the memory of the Ibizan journalist and researcher Xicu Lluy, will deal with this topic taking advantage of the 80th anniversary of the death of Walter Benjamin and the 60th anniversary of that of Albert Camus.
The talks are held from Tuesday 24 to Thursday 26 November 2020 in the Jordi Juan Riquer room of the municipal library, which is located within the Cultural de Can Ventosa, in Ibiza town.

On Tuesday, November 24, the Conference will deal with issues such as intolerance and anti-Semitism in the contemporary world, the Nazis and fascists in the Balearic Islands or the Jewish refugees in Ibiza.
On Wednesday it will be about the persecution of the Chueta in Mallorca, Albert Camus and his fight against Nazism and Camus's relationship with the Islands.
Finally, on Thursday 26, the conference will close with a few presentations on the local press of the time before Nazism, will talk about the Nazis and Jews in Mallorca and about the philosopher Walter Benjamin and the Jewish question in his passage through the Pitiusas and Catalonia.
