On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 the cultural space of Sa Pedrera will host the VII Edition of the Ibiza City International Chess Open
The next 21 and 22 October 2017 will take place in the cultural space of Sa Pedrera, in Dalt Vila, the VII Edition of the Ibiza City International Chess Open.
In it they will participate players as important as the Dutchman Jan Timman, nine-time Dutch champion and 1993 World Championship finalist. Timman will also make a exhibition on the Vara de Rey promenade on Saturday afternoon against 20 players at a time.
David Alsina, great teacher of Catalonia; the international masters Claudio Minzer of Argentina, Slodoban Kovacevic of Serbia or the Dutchman Bohn Hans They will also participate in the event.
This year's competition will be held from 10 to 14 hours and will score for the international ranking. At the moment they are eleven graduates and 72 enrolled those who will participate in the Ibiza City International Chess Open.
In addition to the economic prize, this year the School of Arts and Crafts of Ibiza has designed the trophy. It is a piece that symbolizes a chess board from Bobby Fischer's phrase: 'chess is life. '
