The multifaceted Aida Miró, one of the most recognized Ibizan artists outside the island, stars "Ancestral", a new exhibition curated by Matilde Llado what can you visit in Sa Nostra Room, in Ibiza city.
The exhibition aims to value and vindicate the figure of women, showing, in particular, their vision of the Pitiusan women, both from a traditional point of view and from a more current and modern one. Miró herself has highlighted that the title “Ancestral” comes from the fact that it deals with “ancestral themes such as crafts, dance… what is passed down from generation to generation".
He also stated that this collection of 22 paintings It arose during the pandemic, “my grandmother died during the pandemic and that was when I became interested in knowing my roots, not as a mere spectator but from within.”
“What interested me most was the crafts and the woman in the field, playing in the works with sacred geometry and with various techniques, combining more complex ones with simpler ones that respect the freshness of the stroke.”
