El Institut d'Estudis Eivissencs (IEE) organizes the The Ibizan Culture Course that this year it is proposed to treat the music in Ibiza and Formentera. The course will provide a historical overview of the music produced on the island and will discuss the current state of music and the music industry.
The specific dates are Friday 8, 15, 22 and 29 November, Wednesday 4 December and Friday 13 December 2024. The conferences are held in the Sa Nostra Room, from Ibiza town, at 20: 00 hours.
Attendance is free and openClasses are open to the general public, always taking into account the capacity allowed at all times.
Please note that all talks will be in Catalan.

-Friday, November 8: “Musics of oral transmission to the Pitiüses: the sonades and the songs”, with Jaume Escandell Guasch, Doctor in Musicology and Senior Technician in Historical Heritage of the Consell de Formentera. Presents: Antoni Manonelles Bolle, who, at the end, will also present the “Songwriter of the Pitiüses".
-Friday, November 15: “From the punics to the sarsuela: a journey through 2.500 years of music”, with Pere Prieto Planells, a graduate in History and Music Sciences, journalist and secondary school teacher. Presents: Mauricio Cuesta and Labernia.
-Friday, November 22: “The first decades of modern music in Ibiza”, with Pep Ribas Hereva, journalist. Presents: Fanny Planells Balanzat.
-Friday, November 29: “Uc. Cançons d'Eivissa, 50 years after the death appeared”, with the members of the group Uc: Isidor Mari Mayans, Joan Mari Muñoz Moreno and Victor Planells Lavilla, plus Pere Planells Bonet, author of the covers of the group's two LPs. Presents: Amelia Torres Roig.
-Wednesday, December 4: “Peluts vs palanquers. Flower Power and other musical mogudes a les Pitiüses dels anys 60 i 70”, with Joan Ribas Tur, music curator, and Josep Tur Pep Gamba, musician. Presents: Joana Tur Planells.
-Friday, December 13: Round table “Current X-ray of music and the music industry in Ibiza”, with Maria Rat, member of the board of directors of the Association of Music Teachers of the Balearic Islands (ADMIB); Elena Exenberger, president of the Ibiza Musicians Association; Joan Roig Barbé, musician, composer, producer and co-owner of Magrana Studios; Miquel Prats Botja, musician, promoter and owner of MP Music Ibiza; and Vincent Mari Jordi, owner of Can Jordi Blues Station.
