The elegant and always lively hotel Ocean Drive Talamanca en Jesús presents a new exhibition this summer, this time starring the works of the Ibizan artist Barbara Velli.
Winner of OD Art Awards 2023 With her work on The Mystical Fountain of Saint Agnès, Bárbara Velli has experienced a fascinating artistic evolution. She discovered her love for painting and ceramics in Buenos Aires, where she lived since 2014, but it was during the pandemic when she discovered the 'tufting', a textile technique that involves inserting threads into a fabric base to create raised patterns and designs, using a tufting gun or hand tools.
It is a very popular technique to create rugs and tapestries because of his versatility and its ability to produce varied textures and volumes. This technique has accompanied Velli since his return to Ibiza, where he currently resides. In this field he has experimented with various techniques and materials, starting with acrylic wool, although now he opts for pure New Zealand wool for its quality and durability, a material that adds a very special dimension to his works.
The exhibition on Ocean Drive Talamanca opens on Saturday 6 2024 July at 19 hours.
