Sa Nostra Sala is filled with memory, soul and light with the new exhibition by the veteran Ibizan artist. Bartomeu García Tur, a key figure in the local painting scene.
Under the title "Images from other times", the exhibition opens on 8 May 2025 Thursday and will be open to the public until the 24 of May of 2025, offering an emotional journey through an Ibiza that no longer exists, but which lives intensely in his paintings.
The exhibition brings together 22 recent works created in oil with a technique that Bartomeu himself has perfected in a self-taught way. They are scenes full of nostalgia: rural life, endearing characters, interiors of farmhouses, landscapes and seascapes that inhabit the artist's memory and, thanks to his sensitive gaze, ours as well.
At 87 years old, Bartomeu Garcia Tur remains a chronicler of everyday lifeTrained at the former Escola d'Arts i Oficis on Avenida España, where illustrious names such as Antoni Pomar and Vicent Calbet also passed through, his painting is a tribute to the human and physical landscape of the island, a way of preserving its essence before it disappears completely.
“It is my own record of an island that will never return but that I must remember and evoke,” says the artist himself. And that is precisely what it achieves: evoke with an almost poetic delicacy that ancient Ibiza that refuses to disappear.
The room is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 13:30 p.m. and from 17:30 p.m. to 20:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 13:30 p.m.
A must-see for those who love history, art, and that Ibiza of yesteryear that lives on in the colors of Bartomeu Garcia Tur.
