Pep Monerris "Bagaix" presents its new exhibition, “Histories of obligatory materials”, which invites us to rediscover his creative universe from a mature perspective, where the the passage of time, objects, and memory become protagonists.
Born in Ibiza in 1960, Bagaix is a key figure in the island's visual landscape. Many remember him for having designed some of the most iconic posters of nightclubs like KU or Space in the 80s and 90s, a stage that profoundly marked his artistic language and his way of understanding the image.
Self-taught and trained in electronics, his work has evolved towards a more experimental terrain, where he combines collage, diverse materials and technological or symbolic references.
In this exhibition, the artist delves deeper into that line of thought, working with seemingly forgotten elements such as textures, fragments or objects, to construct pieces that converse between the analog and the conceptual.
Its visual language, closely linked to assembly and recompositionIt connects with his trajectory in collage, a technique he has developed over the years and which allows him to reinterpret both his own history and the visual culture of the island.
The result is an exhibition that is not only observed, but read almost like an emotional archive: layers of meaning where coexist Memories, references, and a critical look at time and transformation.
The exhibition can be visited at the cultural center of Dog Jerome, in San José.
The inauguration takes place on Friday 8 May 2026 at 19:00h, and can be visited until May 24, 2026.
The room is open wednesday to sunday de 10 to 30 pm and thursday to saturday de 18:00 to 21:00 hours.
