El XI Mal del Cap Festival – Narratives Mal Dites It continues to fill Ibiza's winter with diverse cultural offerings, far removed from the usual circuits and with a clear commitment to contemporary thought. In this latest event, the protagonist is Julian Genesis, writer, screenwriter and filmmaker known for his work on experimental and stage humor projects such as the collective Abandoned Dog Track, with a trajectory marked by the intelligent irony and creative provocation.
The proposal revolves around the talk “Undoing Ridicule: A Treatise on Laughter”, an encounter in which Génisson delves into humor from a perspective that is both philosophical and exuberant, exploring Why are we laughing? What lies behind ridicule and how laughter functions as a social, cultural, and emotional tool? This is not a typical lecture, but rather an intimate, insightful experience with that touch of absurdity that characterizes his communication style.
The event is part of a broader program of Mal del Cap Festivalwhich between January and March combines literature, independent cinema, poetry, music and humor, consolidating Ibiza as a space for creation and reflection also during the winter months.
All festival activities, including this talk, are from free entrance until full capacity is reached, a clear commitment to bringing contemporary culture closer to all audiences
The talk/presentation takes place on Thursday 29 of January of 2026at 19 pm, a Sa Cultural, in Ibiza city.
A perfect opportunity to laugh, reflect and discover another way of understanding humor from within.
