"Mata Ombres. Punt i seguit"is a collective exhibition that was born after the artistic residency made in 2023 in Anantapur, at the headquarters of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, and which is inaugurated within the proposals of the Ibiza Art Route 2026.
This exhibition, which is being presented simultaneously in It is the Powder Magazine and the Refectory, both rooms located in dalt vilaIt brings together works by Balearic artists who have participated in this solidarity project, an initiative that is now in its fifth edition and uses the art as a tool for social transformation.
The concept of “Mata Ombres” goes far beyond the artistic: it refers to the reality of the lower castes in India, considered “impure” to the point that their shadow should not be stepped on. Faced with this situation, the project seeks toto symbolically "cleanse" that stigma through art and generate real impact, funding the school construction through the sale of charity artwork. To date, this initiative has allowed us to raise eight schools in the region.
The exhibition brings together numerous artists with ties to the islands, offering a contemporary interpretation of this experience lived in India and transposing it to the Ibizan context. Participants include Ángel Zabala, Marga Guasch, Alba Garrido, Álvaro Mendoza, Ana Uceda, Toni Salom, Aphon Hengcharoen, Bonet Vallribera, Carmen Ruano, Carmen Liberal, Carlos Cerda, Diana Bustamante, Jaime Roig de Diego, Juan Pascual, Marga Juan, Lina Andinach, Matilde Hernández, Patricia Boned, Pedro Asensio, Pilar Cuesta, Vicent Ferrer Barbany, Ximo Canet and Xisco Ramis.
