Classical music transforms into something unexpected with «Operetta«, a show by the company Theater Choir that breaks with the traditional codes of Opera to turn it into a theatrical experience fun, visual and very relatable.
Far from the usual format, this proposal plays with the physical theatre, humor and a cappella voices to build a sound universe without instruments, where everything happens based on vocal talent and stage creativity.
The work, created and directed by Jordi Purtí, with musical direction by David costaIt starts with a seemingly simple scene that soon turns into a succession of ingenious situations.
On stage there are no traditional opera singers, but rather characters linked to the world of theater such as stagehands, technicians or tailors who, through their voices, reinterpret great opera classics from a completely different perspective.
The repertoire includes some of the most recognizable pieces by composers such as Verdi, Mozart, Rossini, Bizet or Wagnertransformed into sketches full of rhythm and humorFrom a delirious version of "La traviata" to surprising reinterpretations of "Nabucco" or "Il barbiere di Siviglia".
The result is a fast-paced, imaginative show designed for both opera lovers and those seeking a different cultural experience.
The function is held on Sunday 19 2026 April at 19:00h at the Palace of Congresses of Ibiza, in Santa Eulalia.
