If you like theater that moves, excites, and makes you think, don't miss this play. “Imperfect couples”, a production that comes with the endorsement of having won the Pulitzer Prize in 2018.
The story revolves around Edu, an unemployed truck driver who reunites with his ex-wife, Ana, now a quadriplegic after a serious accident. Meanwhile, Juan, a brilliant PhD student with cerebral palsy, hires Yanis, the daughter of Latin American immigrants, as his assistant. Despite having completed university, she is going through a difficult time.
The play is written by the Polish-American playwright Martyna Majok, recognized for her ability to honestly portray the difficulties of people with disabilities or in situations of vulnerability. The version and direction is in charge of Barnabas Rico, Andalusian director with extensive experience in film and theatre.
The cast is headed by Toni Cantó, an actor with a long career in television, film and theatre; Mirela Balic, an emerging actress who has worked on projects such as “Christ and the King” and “Elite”; Lola baldrich, a benchmark on the Spanish scene since the 90s; and Marcos Mayo, with a solid track record in contemporary theatre.
With sensitivity and a very human touch, the work challenges the prejudices about disability and explores in depth topics such as social class, race or origin, showing how these factors can drive us apart… even though we’re all looking for the same thing: connection.
The function is the Wednesday 30 of April of 2025 at 20 pm in the auditorium of the cultural center of Can Ventosa, in Ibiza city.
