Ibiza once again becomes a meeting point for chess lovers with the celebration of the XVI Ibiza City International Chess Open, an already established event that brings together players of different levels in a competitive and accessible environment.
The event is structured around several official tournaments. The main one is the IRT FIDE Sub-2400, valid for FIDE Standard ELO, with a game rhythm of 60' + 30'' y 6-round Swiss system, aimed at players with a Minimum ELO of 1800.
In parallel, the IRT FIDE Sub-1800, Also to 6 rounds and at the same pace, open to players from the initial level.
To this is added the IRT FIDE Blitz (IV Blitz Chessamics), with fast-paced games 3' + 2'' and 7 rounds.
The main tournament distributes Awards featured, with €3.000 in total, including €290 and a trophy for the champion, in addition to awards by category (Under 2200, Under 2000, Under 1900, Veterans, Women's, etc.). The parallel tournaments also feature cash prizes and medals.
The competition is held at two venues. The tournaments Sub-2400 and Sub-1800 take place in the Hotel Vibra Algarb (Playa d'en Bossa), while the Flash Is celebrated in the Ibiza Beach Hotel (Figueretas). Capacity is limited to 40 participants per tournament.
The appointment takes place from Thursday, April 30 to Sunday, May 3, 2026The rounds begin on Thursdays at 20:00h, they continue Friday and Saturday in a double session at 10: 00 16 and: 00 hoursand they conclude the sunday at 09:30h with the awards ceremony at the end.
