World Cleanup Day or World Cleaning Day It is a global initiative that is held simultaneously in more than 150 countries, and also in Ibiza, in view of the worrying problem of waste management.
Unfortunately this year, due to the restrictions derived from the Covid-19 pandemic, the large simultaneous cleanup cannot be organized in all parts of the island and in which some 2.000 volunteers participated in recent years. Thus, from the organization of the event, they encourage you to contribute your grain of sand individually.
The event is celebrated on Saturday 19 2020 September and is organized, among others, by environmental associations such as Plastic Free Ibiza and Formentera, and Let´s Do It Baleares.
How do I participate this year?
-Choose a place.
-Take several buckets or bags to organize the trash and separate it to recycle. Remember that cigarette butts, cloth and wood go to the ordinary waste container.
-Write down the type of predominant residue and the total amount of collected waste. When doing so, take note of the number and size of the containers (for example: 2 garbage bags of 30L containers…). Send this data to globalchangeibiza@gmail.com.
-Upload a photo to networks with hashtags #worldcleanupday, #letsdoitspain, #letsdoitibiza or #letsdoitformentera and labels Plastic Free Ibiza or Plastic Free Formentera.
-Throw out all the garbage that you have collected at your nearest recycling point.
-And most importantly: always respect the current safety regulations.
