The II Ibiza Tattoo Convention at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza ended up with great public success and an excellent level in the 90 participating tattoo artists
The second edition of the Ibiza Tattoo Conventionheld from Friday 30 from August to Sunday 1 from September 2019 in the spacious and modern facilities of Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza, it ended with a great public success.
Almost a thousand participants attended the first two days of this convention which, as noted Unai Berbel, Member of the Ibiza Culture Association, promoter of the event, wants to consolidate itself as the great annual tattoo event on the island.
“We have had a lot of support from the people of Ibiza, professionals and visitors and very well received by studies from the rest of Spain and international. We are learning with what they tell us and I think we are on the right track to consolidate the event ”he assured. And he added regarding the creation of the contest: “It was necessary because Ibiza's level is very high and we want the people here to work and be at ease and be able to bring them together in a event with first world figures and that is enriching for them, for people who like tattooing ”.
Enrique Pérez, 'Mao', tattoo artist and owner of the Madrid studio Mao & Cathy, was the first to open a studio in Ibiza in 1981, and for the second year he participates in the Ibiza Tattoo Convention as a jury. “The level is even better than in the first edition. Last year there was already a very good level, but this year there is an amazing level". And adds: "Here you can see people from many countries and with very different styles and in just three days you can get a very global idea of what this world is". In addition, about the level on the island states: “Last year they won Ibizan studies and this year they are also getting prizes, that means that Ibiza's level is very high".
The Ibizan tattoo artist Kiko Botella, jury on the first day, stressed that “last year it was more local and there was already a lot of level; this year the international incorporations have made it even better. The competition will be beautiful to see how the Ibizan tattoo looks. ”
Also the Madrid tattoo artist Dani Guirao, who worked in Ibiza and this year presents himself to the convention with True Souls, has highlighted the level of this year. "Ibiza has been very important in the development of the tattoo in Spain, it has been a starting and joining point among tattooists from all over Europe. It was time to have a convention that would reflect this scene, with classic studies that have been for more than 25 years and newer ones that are at a very high level, and are moving all over Spain and abroad. It is a convention with a lot of charm and a lot of potential, especially facing the outside ”.
