Cooking lovers, we have a new date! The Ibiza Town Hall, the Consell de Ibiza and the Fishermen's Guild of Ibiza are organizing the first Ibiza Seafood Fair, a new gastronomic event so you can learn more about the delicious fish from our waters.
The appointment is November 16 Saturday of 2024 throughout the day in the Vell Market.
The day starts at 11:30 hours with a llaut (traditional Ibizan boat) that will arrive at the Port of Ibiza and perform the traditional “corn brulat” (called with a large conch shell warning that the fish was arriving), followed by a pasacalles to the Mercat Vell.
One of the central events will be a competition to prepare a 'fish stew' (fish stew). You can sign up as a club, association, or gather a group of cooking friends and write to info@peixnostrum.com at the latest November 13, 2024.
You and your companions will have to start cooking at 12:00 hours and you will have until the 14:00 hours, the moment in which you will have to present your stew to the jury, who will evaluate it taking into account aspects such as presentation, originality, traditional character of the dish, difficulty of preparation, use of ingredients typical of Ibizan cuisine, flavour and aroma.
Please note that it will be mandatory to use local fish, preferably rock fish, such as sea bream, moray eel, vaques, cap-roigs, variades, molls…. You should also know that you will have at your disposal to cook a 3x2 m carp, three tables and 10 chairs, but you must provide the utensils, kitchen equipment and elements necessary for preparing the dish.
From the 12:00 hours Various events will be organized Workshops for children and adults related to the world of the sea.
A las 14:30 hours Attendees will be able to enjoy a popular rice, produced by the Ibicenca Livestock Cooperative by 10 Euros.
The musical entertainment will be provided by the group Summer Life, which will offer a concert at 15: 30 hours.
And to conclude the day, at 16:30 hours will be done awards of the guisat de peix contest. The three best dishes will receive a Peix Nostrum voucher 350 Euros for the winner, 200 Euros the second and 100 Euros for the third.
In addition, throughout the day there will be different raffles and raffles of the following prizes: fishing kits, binoculars, headlamps, waterproof clothing, boots, fishing rod, jigs, hooks, anchors... And if you go dress with some Sailor element You will also have a surprise gift.
