The legendary flea market Las Dalias inaugurates a new corner within its permanent cultural project “A World in Las Dalias”, a tour designed to discover the diversity of traditions that coexist in different parts of the planet.
An educational project that is consolidated with the inauguration of the third stop is dedicated to Guatemala, with a space focused on the ancient tradition of the Giant Kites.
According to the Mayan worldview, these huge colorful kites They are much more than ephemeral art: they represent a bridge between the world of the living and the underworldTheir flight is a ritual that honors the deceased, drives away evil spirits, and keeps the bond with ancestors alive, carrying their memories in the wind.
The coordinator of the market, Isabel Lambour, originally from Guatemala, explains it with emotion: “With this corner, we want the wind of Ibiza to also carry with it a message of admiration for ancestral cultures. It is an invitation to connect with a philosophy of life where the art, the community and spirituality they intertwine to celebrate life and death".
The promenade already had other spaces dedicated to Vietnam , with silk and bamboo lanterns handcrafted in Hoi An Ancient Town, a symbol of joy and good luck; already Nepal, represented by Tibetan prayer flags that wave in the wind.
With this new corner, the market reinforces its role as a place of cultural, educational and creative meeting on the island.
Visiting Las Dalias now also means touring a symbolic map of the world, uniting cultures, fencouraging respect and celebrating diversity in this unique space in Ibiza.
