El Can Ventosa Cultural Space hosts «Debon sings Suau«, a poetic-musical show that brings together the singer on the same stage Pau Debon, the composer and pianist Antoni Bujosa and the poet Pere Suau, three Mallorcan icons united by friendship and the same artistic project.
The show stems from a friendship of more than two decades: Bujosa and Suau have known each other since childhood, are neighbors in Bunyola, and Pau Debon, a voice known for his career at the front of Antonia Font, with whom they also formed a close bond around Barça. The spark that gave rise to the project came in 2021, when Suau proposed that Debon perform a composition by Bujosa during the presentation of his book «Dark swans"From that one-off collaboration emerged a complete album, which brings together sixteen pieces built from Suau's poetic work."
The show is structured in four alternating registers: poems recited by himself Pere Suau with piano accompaniment, poems sung by Pau Debon about original music by Antoni Bujosaa piece that combines spoken voice and sung voice, and two instrumental piano compositions inspired by the poet's texts.
The repertoire covers a good part of Suau's later books, with themes ranging from love and the heartbreak to death or landscape, and includes pieces such as «On oblidar pugui", about a romantic breakup, or"Like a bird on a wire«, a direct homage to Leonard Cohen's famous song.
More than just a live album, "Debon canta Suau" is conceived as an exercise in artistic symbiosis between word and musicIn this performance, both languages become inseparable to construct a shared narrative. Since its premiere this spring, the show has already toured various venues in Mallorca and Catalonia, including Bellver Castle in Palma, and now arrives in Ibiza for the first time.
