arrives the Fifth edition of the Soul Food Festival, event scheduled within Cala de Bou Festival 2025, organized by the San José City Council and the Great River Road Cultural Association to publicize the intense bond between cuisine and music culture.
The V Soul Food Fest is celebrated on Sunday 12 2025 October (national holiday) in the Caló de s'Oli Auditorium, in Cala de Bou, San José, and as always pays tribute to the southern usa cuisine and the deepest roots of blues, soul and other North American genresThe event has had to cancel Friday, October 10 due to the bad weather forecast.
The appointment starts at 12 pm with a rock and soul session with Betterman Dj, to give way to the 13 pm to the performance of The Soul Connectors, band of Ibizan origin formed by four musicians who live in different places: the drummer David Barona, the Argentine guitarist and singer based in Mallorca Alexandra Burgos, the Madrid guitarist Paul Sanpa and the Argentine bassist living in Madrid Christian Morana.
On 15 pm you can taste a Creole seafood stew o Crawfish Étouffée, typical of Lousiana, while the music of Betterman Dj plays again and there will also be other snacks and a drink bar in an area of food trucks (open from early morning).
Around the 16 pm It's time for the main event of the event: the performance of José Ramírez and his band. From Costa Rica to the most prestigious stages of the international circuit, José Ramírez has established himself as the the world's most prominent Latin blues artist. His proposal combines the passion of Traditional blues with Latin, soul, and rhythm & blues influences, creating a warm, powerful and deeply emotional sound.
After achieving second place at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2020 and signing with leading labels such as Delmark Records and Blue CrawFish Records, Ramírez has become a true ambassador of the genre. Live, his band creates a high-voltage show, accompanied by top-level musicians such as Marino Orejana on the Hammond organ (collaborator of Raimundo Amador and Julián Maeso), Javier Geras on bass, with a solid career alongside Anaut, Vinila Von Bismark and Alex O'Dogherty, and the renowned percussionist based in Ibiza David Barona to the battery. The festival poster is the work of the illustrator, designer and DJ Ricard Bofill, also known as Ric Jazzbo.
In previous editions we have been able to enjoy concerts by great artists such as the Chicago blues legend Willy Buck or the singer Laretha Weathersby, known as the “Chicago Blues Diva".
