Contemporary art takes over Ibiza with The Night League and W1 Curates

The Night League brings us works by Michael Craig-Martin and Vhils to Hï and [UNVRS], bringing contemporary art to the heart of the immersive experience in Ibiza

El contemporary art once again occupies a central place in the agenda cultural development of the island with the expansion of the joint program between The Night League, the creative force behind Hï Ibiza, Ushuaïa Ibiza and [UNVRS], and the international platform W1 Curates.

Following the impact of their first collaboration in 2025, both entities are launching a new phase of the project in 2026 that consolidates a innovative cultural model: integrating contemporary art into spaces where thousands of people gather to live collective experiences, outside the traditional circuit of museums and galleries.

The season begins with two key figures on the international scene. On the one hand, the influential British conceptual artist. Michael Craig Martin inaugurates the new season of Hï Ibiza's permanent digital art gallery and a site-specific work conceived as immersive experience for the club.

Trained at the Yale School of Art and considered one of the leading figures in conceptual art since the 1960s, Craig-Martin has developed a practice centered on precise line drawings and color compositions that transform everyday objects, from headphones and light bulbs to musical instruments and digital devices, into powerful contemporary icons, exploring the relationship between perception, language and meaningHis best-known work, «An Oak Tree» (1973), is considered one of the most influential conceptual pieces of the 20th century, and his work is exhibited internationally in museums and galleries, with global representation of Gagosian.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto, known as Vhils, presents a monumental installation developed in [UNVRS] alongside W1 Curates, which expands its research on urban surfaces and the identities inscribed within them. At the venue's entrance, their intervention takes the form of a carved mural directly on the architecture of the building that engages in dialogue with identity, collective memory and urban landscapeThe work is part of his ongoing project «Scratching the Surface, initiated in 2007, and connects with his renowned technique based on the “creative destruction”, through which he drills, carves and excavates layers of urban materials to reveal hidden stories.

Vhils has exhibited at institutions such as MAAT (Lisbon), Barbican Centre (London), Palais de Tokyo (Paris) and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, establishing herself as one of the most influential voices in contemporary urban art.

The collaboration between The Night League and W1 Curates also proposes a structural change in the way contemporary art is produced and shared: it places new and established artists within dynamic cultural environments, integrating art into collective experiences where music, architecture and technology converge.

In this context, Ibiza reaffirms itself as contemporary cultural laboratory and stage for an expanding creative ecosystem which will continue to grow throughout 2026 with new physical and digital installations, monumental sculptures, rotating exhibitions and immersive interventions in different spaces of Hï Ibiza, Ushuaïa Ibiza and [UNVRS].

A program that confirms the evolution of clubbing towards a broader cultural format and that once again places Ibiza on the international map of contemporary art from a an open, immersive approach deeply connected to your collective energy.
