The Govern Balear wants to eliminate the goats from the Islet of Es Vedrà in Ibiza and this has provoked a great controversy between those who are for and against.
For a few days it has been the subject of which everyone speaks in Ibiza: the goats of Es Vedrà, Do they have to be eliminated or not? We tell you how the controversy arises and the positions for and against.
Everything arises as a result of the start a few days ago of the proceedings by the Balearic Government to end the goats that populate the famous islet of Es Vedrà, some animals that, whether we like it or not, have become one of those typical Ibiza prints.
The Balearic Ministry of the Environment claims that goats have a brutal impact on endemic flora of this protected islet, and that more than half of the wild species have already been found of Es Vedrà, so he proposes his transfer, although some have understood that what was intended was to exterminate the goats, and they have put the cry in the sky.
The issue is not something that comes from now, every time there has been a progressive government in Ibiza they have tried to carry out the withdrawal of these animals, for the moment without success, and it is one of those permanent battle horses between PSOE and other progressive parties on one side and the PP and the owners of Es Vedrà for another. It has been announced many times that the goats will be removed, but, for the moment, they are still there.
El GEN, Amics de la Terra and other environmental groups are in favor of its withdrawal, they argue, on the one hand, that the goats that are there They are common, such as those found on any farm, they are not a protected species and they are not from there. On the other hand, yes there are native plants of Es Vedrà that only grow on the islet and are in danger, and, thirdly, that the goats cause soil erosion and endanger the island of Es Vedrà itself.
The defenders let goats claim that are already part of the Ibizan landscape, which must be preserved by tradition and out of respect for the wishes of the owners of Es Vedrà and that the goats contribute to fertilize the land. In fact, the Dj Eva Pacifico has even created a request on Change.org: Save the goats of Es Vedrà.
And you, what do you think, goats yes or no goats?
