Created in the 70s in Basel, Switzerland, by gallery owners Ernst Beyeler, Trudl Bruckner and Balz Hilt as a major event for modern and contemporary art, Art Basel moved to Miami in the 2000s to host Art Basel Miami every December. Some 250 galleries from around the world participate.
