The present urban nucleus of Jesus, zone of lively daily life, with bars, restaurants and playgrounds, has been formed around its church. It was built by the Franciscans late fifteenth century, but several renovations and additions were made in later years. Although at the moment it can be considered that it is integrated within the heart of the town, in its origins served for the worship of seafarers that resided outside the walls of Ibiza.
Forced visit when we arrived at Jesus, his church preserves the altarpiece allusive to the Nativity of the Mother of God, work of the Osona, jewel of the so-called international style of transition between Gothic and Renaissance painting.
It has a side porch and at its western end the main door leads directly to the interior. After this, the choir is first, which is a wooden platform. The nave has three chapels on each side, all of them quite small with the exception of the 'capella fonda', which is near the presbytery and is larger.
Another of the constructions that stands out in the town is its Cultural center, a spacious and modern space that has an auditorium, media library and multi-purpose rooms. Throughout the year it hosts a large number of most interesting events and workshops.
In a few minutes you can visit the whole town. A good option to continue to know the area is to go to Cala llonga, a small tourist center in which you will find a beach frequented by families and a tourist offer of the most varied. Also, just before arriving you will encounter the urbanization Roca Llisa, which has the unique golf course on the island.
El September 8 celebrates its big day. Most of the festivities take place in front of the church and have to do with music, dance or popular traditions. Of course, the gastronomy of Ibiza is very present these holidays.
Today, Jesus is still a quiet townVery close to Ibiza, and good gastronomic offer which attracts tourists and residents throughout the year.
