El International Festival of Performance Art Territori Ibiza celebrates its third edition with a lot of stimulating proposals inspired by the participation and the game with the public.
A great cultural event directed by Isa Sanz that emerged in the midst of a pandemic and has been growing to bring us this year 13 performances by national and international artists (two of them site specific) and 5 performances by Balearic artists, selected through the "Hope not hope" call. Altogether there will be 27 participants in this year's edition that will deepen from practice, reflection and learning in performance art.
Among the national and international artists, the festival will receive in Ibiza creators such as Miss BeigePeter Rosvik (Sweden), Priscilla Rezende (Brazil), XieRong (China-UK), Marc Montijano, Sarah Misselbrook (UK), shahar dor (Israel), Monma Mingot, Almudena Rubio, David Novell, Álvaro Hurtado, Silberius de Ura and Pancho López (Mexico). The artists selected in the "Hope not hope" call are Annalisa Rinaldi, Ivana Ray Singh, Violeta Galera, Marina EG and Maria Uribe.
This third edition, the first to be held in a normal context, has the motto “the body matters” and is celebrated from September 17-25, 2022.
In addition to the various performances, there are also the documentaries “100 Ways to Cross the Border”, directed by Amber Bemak and “The Pocha Nostra”, about the 40-year career of the performer Guillermo Gomez-Peña and his company.
The mexican artist Pancho Lopez is the curator of “A bird's eye view”, an exhibition that offers us a look at the video performance scene in Central America.
Regarding training activities, Territori Ibiza proposes “roots and masks”, workshops for artists in the Petite Hall of Can Ventosa, in Ibiza town, with the artist shahar dor. For its part, Semiramis Gonzalez gives the talk “Can you make art with the body? Performance and more things…”, to bring performance closer to the general public and to schools on the island. The Bolivian Maria Galindo will give a talk entitled "Bastardism and depatriarchalization: two escape axes for the construction of new horizons of creation, subversion and transformation."
There will also be a professional day of analysis on the situation of the artistic sector in times of precariousness directed by the art historian and curator Marta Mantecón and, as a novelty, this year Territori proposes a mentoring program for artists from the Balearic Islands and Catalonia.
And to close the festival there will be a neonymus concert, music project Silberius of Ura, a daring combination of electronic technology and prehistoric or unusual instruments.
