The Great Route of Santa Eulalia

Santa Eulalia presents the Great Route or Route 12, a new route through the entire municipality through 14 points of heritage interest, discover it!

City Council Santa Eulalia throws the Great Route or Route 12, a new and fascinating tour of the entire municipality through a total of 14 points of tourist and / or heritage interest.

A great way to discover the beauties of the eastern part of the island, with a tour of about 65 kilometers.

Santa Eulalia has more than 20 beaches spread along its 46 kilometers of coastline and with a total of 12 cycling routes and 11 hiking routes, which invite you to learn more about this beautiful municipality.

The new Route 12 or Great Route of Santa Eulalia is a circular route of medium difficulty and with a total duration of 15 hours.

Points of interest on the Great Route

1- Santa Eulalia Town Hall

The building was built in the 1937th century, in the typical architectural style of the island. Under the square is the chamber of the bomb shelter built in XNUMX during the Spanish Civil War.

2- Cala Espart

One of the smallest coves in the area, narrow, deep and not very crowded, even in summer. Its name comes from the abundance of esparto in the area, a very important indigenous plant in the Ibizan tradition, to make household items and accessories such as espadrilles (espadrilles), which are used in country dance.

3- Church of Jesus

The church was built by the Franciscans in the late 25th century, with many later additions. It has an impressive altarpiece of XNUMX painted pieces that shows the Virgin Mary with the baby Jesus and is considered the most important work of sacred art and medieval iconography in Ibiza.

4- Cami des Pedrisset

The Camí de Pedrisset has dry stone walls, a traditional construction technique that in 2018 was declared Intangible Heritage by UNESCO. The “pedrisset” was a kind of stone seat that was used to sit and wait for the car that was circulating on the road to pass.

5- Church of Santa Gertrudis

Built at the end of the XNUMXth century, this church has the highest bell tower of all the churches on the island, a very small porch and access to the attic from outside. It is dedicated to Saint Gertrude of Helfta, a XNUMXth century German Cistercian nun.

6- Section of the Labritja Tourist Trail

The Labritja Tourist Trail, recovered in 2018, has a total length of 16,2 km with some thirty heritage elements, including a Ferris wheel, an orchard house and the Pont de sa Llosa, a bridge with an arch over the torrent de Labritja built in 1930 and the Pont or Pas de Cas Roig, even older than the previous one.

7- Can Jaumet Tower

Two-storey tower attached to the house of the same name.

8- Can Rieró Tower

Tower that already appears documented in 1771 with the name of Torre d'Atzaró, with an access door to the ground floor from the patio of the house to which it belongs.

9- Font d'Atzaró

You can visit the fountain with a nearby basin, as well as a washhouse and a pool and the canal system that carried the water to the fields.

10- Montserrat Tower

Currently empty and unused, this tower, unlike the Can Rieró tower, follows a construction style based on horizontal rows of vertically placed slabs, similar to the so-called “herringbone” style, which gives it a more refined

11- Las Dalias Market

Since 1985, this emblematic market, probably the most famous on the island, has been a must for any visitor to Ibiza, a true meeting point where to buy beautiful pieces of crafts, listen to music or enjoy its unique atmosphere.

12- Hippie Market of Punta Arabí

Another unavoidable visit is the island's first hippy market, which is held every Wednesday of the season and has about 500 stalls selling handicrafts, clothes or jewelry, as well as live music.

13- Aqueduct of s'Argamassa

Archaeological site from the late Punic and Roman times, with an aqueduct of more than 40 meters in length that brought fresh water to a fish farm near the sea.

14- Ibiza Conference Center

Inaugurated in 2008, this beautiful contemporary architecture building located in a pine forest just 40 meters from the sea is at the forefront of congress, convention and event tourism. With its spectacular location, its modern facilities and its varied cultural and recreational proposals, it is a must in Santa Eulalia.
