The Puget Museum in Dalt Vila hosts an exhibition of drawings by Vicent Calbet with more than 100 drawings that the artist made between 1951 and 1956
El Puget Museum, located in Dalt Vila, hosts an exhibition of Vicent Calbet (Ibiza 1938 - Japan 1994) with 104 drawings (selected from more than 300) that the Ibicencan artist made between 1951 and 1956, in the stage I was studying in the Escola d'Arts i Oficis de Ibiza.
At that time the method consisted of first training in drawing before moving on to painting, and Calbet, as this sample shows, exercised extensively in this discipline. They are notes that contain all the phases of the drawing: note, profile and finished or preparatory drawing and only the cardboard would be missing, which Calbet is not known to realize.
They are drawings that belong to the classical tradition and they are a intermediate state of the creative process which concludes in your case as a painting. There are school sketches and outdoor sketches. Some are finished and others just sketched, and are made using pencil, ballpoint, charcoal and pastel. In the sample abound portraits, especially of friends and family. There are also emblematic prints like Dalt Vila from La Marina or urban scenes, in his father's barbershop, for example.
The exhibition of Drawings by Vicent Calbet can be visited at the Puget Museum from the 4 of April of 2018 to the 4 of April of 2019, from Tuesday to Sunday.
