El Consell de Ibiza has appointed pilot Ángel Nieto Adoptive son of the island posthumously.
El thirteen times world motorcycling champion (12 + 1, as he used to say by superstition) died on August 3 of 2017 in Ibiza in an accident while driving his quad.
The news went around the world quickly and the tributes followed each other in different places.
The Consell de Ibiza recognizes with this title the relationship of the pilot with the island. Nieto was not only a resident here, but he was directly involved in his promotion and care. Participated in various charity events, was preacher of the Feasts of the Earth in 2005 and even He actively fought against the expansion of the quarry of Plans in Jesus.
The Ibizan institution has also affirmed that it was "One of the best ambassadors of Ibiza" around the world.
